On Friday 8th February, Southampton City Cubs and Leaders held a party and disco to celebrate what would have been Robert Baden Powell’s 162nd birthday this year.
127 Cubs, along with Leaders and Active Support attended. A fun evening was had by all with dancing, pass the parcel and birthday cake. Written by Sarah Granger ADC Cubs.
We’ve noticed plenty of festive events going on around our district this holiday season. Here’s a taste at what’s going on…
Please get in touch if you have something to add
I have now heard from the Royal British Legion. Our poppy sellers collected £1,927.40p. This is a wonderful achievement and approximately £300 up on last year. Thank you to all members of The District who helped in this. What a great effort on behalf of the community. Thank you all.
Well done to all those Cubs who attended the Athletics evening. Everyone tried their best and every single cub earnt a badge. That’s amazing!
Thank you to the Leaders and Young Leaders for their help, and to the 13th who ran a refreshments stall to raise money for our District Charity – PICU.
Last week, Explorers from our district had a day out on their mountain bikes at Swinley Forest.
Swinley Forest has 24km of purpose built, all weather way-marked mountain bike trails that nestle and follow the forest’s natural ebb and flow. The trails are suitable for riders of all levels, from beginners to advanced, and for all sorts of bikes from fat-tyred mountain bikes to kid’s bikes to those wishing to explore on an adventure drop bar style of bike.
Take a quick look at how we got on below…
This is the Cubs 6ers Camp for 2018 at Wilverley Camp Site.
Our theme was: I’m a Cub get Me Out of Here.
We had a fun camping weekend with Friday night’s wide game being challenges to earn Dingo Dollars to buy doughnuts from Kiosk Chil’s Outback Shack.
Saturday Competition Day was full of Jungle themed challenging activities, run by the fantastically talented Pack Leaders.
(Unfortunately, apologies to those whos base footage has not appeared on this video the Go Pro had a glitch)
Sunday was the Cub Cyclone slip and slide, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the Cubs and Leaders, especially Ollie who got Jungle slimmed!
Thank You to all for a fabulous weekend.

On a lovely sunny lunchtime in June the beaver section held its annual Wacky Races and Picnic – an opportunity for the beavers and their families from across the district to get together for some fun and to help the community by raising funds for the district charity – PICU.
44 young people from 7 groups took the time to make their cars and race them. There were 7 categories of races for all ages. After the races the families had their picnics and the young people played games.
Thanks to the district beaver team for all your hard work planning and running the event, to all the families and leaders for attending and to the 13th Group for providing the refreshments.
You raised a massive £127.97p. Let’s hope we have more young people and all the groups taking part next year and we can raise even more money for charity.
