Photos: Snowy Summit Expedition ⛄️

A couple of weeks ago a team of 6 Explorers and Network Scouts ventured up to Snowdonia for the weekend to climb some snow-capped peaks. The scenery was breath-taking, made all the better with our accommodation. A cosy cottage in the middle of nowhere without electricity. Luckily there was a log fire to keep us warm after a chilly hike in the mountains.

It was an unforgettable weekend. Thank you so much to Ian Rutherford for organising the trip. Thanks also go to Cantell School for their generous rental of their mini-bus.

Watch: Southampton scouts sleep on a cliff edge!

To me, scouts is about new experiences, developing skills and growing comfort zones.

This half term, 3x 12yr old scouts & I quite literally slept on the side of a cliff – I think that’s a tick in each box.

Truly fantastic and surreal experience. Massive thanks to James and his friends who lent us the portaledges, to the parents who trusted me, Anne for camping up top, and the scouts for being utterly amazing. It was a humbling experience.

Summit 2017

You’ve got to be tough to get through a weekend in Snowdonia! Scouts, Explorers and Network members have just returned from an adventurous trip reaching the peaks of North Wales. Saturday’s mist, rain and wind didn’t stop our teams reaching the summits of Snowdon and Tryfan. By Sunday the weather eased, rewarding us with some stunning views. Well done to everyone who attended, it’s a big achievement.

Video: Emlyn Camp Diary

For those who don’t know… Emlyn is a weekend competition camp held every year where Scouts get the opportunity to ‘camp without adults’ in the sense that they set up their site, cook, eat and complete challenges without any help from the leaders.

14th Wednesday Troop made this video of their time at Emlyn Camp last weekend…

30 Years of Beaver Scouting

Did you know that last year (2016) saw the Beavers celebrating their 30th Birthday?  Southampton City District spend the year having loads of fun – a few things they got up to included:

  • Birthday party
  • Trip to Gilwell Fun Days
  • Completed the County 30 Challenges
  • Campfire with Birthday cake

To finish the year we put all that fun in a Time Capsule and had it buried at Wilverley, our district campsite in the New Forest.  Many thanks to the Network Scouts for the burying.
