All “signed-up” young participants will also receive a free ticket for the short (3 hour) cruise that “Shieldhall” will be making on the afternoon of Saturday 17th September (15.00 to 18.00 hrs) when we will be sailing from 48 Berth down the length of Southampton Water to the Solent. It is planned that the Southampton Maritime Trust will be onboard outlining details of their Forgotten Wrecks of the First World War Project plus on the way back we should see the departing cruise liners “Brittannia”, “Celebrity Eclipse” and “Emerald Princess”.

The full adult’s ticket price for this sailing is £27.50 but each group will be entitled to two half price tickets for accompanying adults. The full rate is applicable to other adults over and above the two as said. The ticket price for youngsters over and above those attending the Y.T.D. is £10.00 / hd.

We can also advise that we will allow early boarding and the opportunity of visiting all area’s (under supervision) i.e. the bridge, engine room, etc., as we prepare for going to sea.

At this moment in time I can confirm that there are still places available albeit a little limited in number. Early application to our Mr Nigel Philpott, Ticketing Manager, for these remaining places is therefore recommended. To book “on-line” @ www.ss-shieldhall.co.uk or call 0844 357 2329.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard again sometime soon.

Kind regards,

Richard W. Jarvis.

Pro-Badge Camps 2016/17

Pro-Badge is an Activity Badge Training Scheme, which uses the resources of the Solent Scout Training Centre at Lyons Copse, to the best advantage of the Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Scout Leaders. The scheme provides training for badges that require predominantly outdoor Scouting activity or natural resources.

You can book your Cubs and Scouts in to weekend camps over the coming months to give them a chance to earn some of the outdoor-based badges.

Leaflets for the forthcoming Pro-Badge season are now available on the ProBadge website, please click here for the Cub Scout leaflet, and here for the Scout version. Please feel free to pass onto other Cubs, Scouts and Leaders.

This year we will also be running a Pioneer course for Explorer Scouts, this will run on our November weekend. Please note that Explorers will have to camp as we do not have indoor accommodation for them.

To book on any courses please contact via the website links or email me direct.

Thank You

“Scissors” (Clive Clark)
Camp Leader

HSX Patagonia 2017 – Recruitment

Since its foundation in 1986, Hampshire Scout Expeditions (HSX) have successfully run over 20 international expeditions for Hampshire Scouts across the globe. In 2017 they’ll be breaking new ground and heading to the Patagonian Andes!

Patagonia is a sparsely populated region located at the southern tip of South America, shared by Argentina and Chile. The region comprises the southern section of the Andes, characterised by granite pillars, deserts, steppes and grasslands.

The expedition will take place over the course of six weeks, in the winter of 2017, with the expedition team likely to leave in late November 2017, returning in early January 2018. The trip will comprise of three principle elements; a community development project working with the locals; a trek around the Torres del Paine National Park and climbing in the Andean mountains; and to finish, a series of cultural tours and adventurous activities. Participants will experience Chile’s unique culture, incredible sights, stunning scenery and fascinating history.

H0018: Hampshire’s 2018 Camp for All Sections

With a range of organised activities, a beautiful location and a great change to network, socialise and bring whole groups together, H0018 is one for the diary!

We wish to take the best from the 2007 ‘H007’ and 2014 ‘H0014’ camps and combining this with Dorset Scouts’ fantastic campsite at Buddens near Wareham.

We would like everyone involved in Hampshire and beyond to celebrate Scouting, as a group, section, or unit with a fantastic week of activities and a special day midweek, called “A Monster’s Day out!”, for day visitors to join us.
