Southampton City District has been invited by the Mayor of Southampton, to attend the Remembrance Service at the Cenotaph on Sunday 12th November 2017.
All groups and all sections are invited to attend. I appreciate that some groups, traditionally attend their local church and therefore will not be attending. Can I also remind Leaders of Beavers and younger Cubs, that there is quite a lot of standing, and listening and you may feel that this is not appropriate for your section. For those of you who wish to attend, you should meet in Guildhall Square by 1015hrs.
We are at the rear of the parade and you should muster in the square furthest away from the Guildhall and nearest to Above Bar Street. Everyone should be in smart, full uniform.
Could I remind you all that we are on show to the public as this event is well attended so best behaviour is important and it is not appropriate to carry cups of coffee or cans of drink in the parade.

To me, scouts is about new experiences, developing skills and growing comfort zones.
This half term, 3x 12yr old scouts & I quite literally slept on the side of a cliff – I think that’s a tick in each box.
Truly fantastic and surreal experience. Massive thanks to James and his friends who lent us the portaledges, to the parents who trusted me, Anne for camping up top, and the scouts for being utterly amazing. It was a humbling experience.
You’ve got to be tough to get through a weekend in Snowdonia! Scouts, Explorers and Network members have just returned from an adventurous trip reaching the peaks of North Wales. Saturday’s mist, rain and wind didn’t stop our teams reaching the summits of Snowdon and Tryfan. By Sunday the weather eased, rewarding us with some stunning views. Well done to everyone who attended, it’s a big achievement.
We are running the following training course modules in Sep and Oct 2017 which are free for any of our leaders who have not yet completed their leadership training. Let me know if you want to sign up to any of these.
We are having a Wilverley working Party Weekend on September 23rd-24th. It is always great fun so please do your best to come along and please ask anyone in your group to come and give us a hand.
If you would like to stay over on Saturday night you will be very welcome.
Full details below. Please let me now numbers well in advance for catering arrangements.
SOUTHAMPTON CITY SCOUT DISTRICT WILVERLEY CAMPSITE MAINTENANCE WEEKEND
Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th September 2017
9.00am to 4.00pm
Please come and join us in some basic maintenance at Wilverley. We have a list of jobs that are in need of doing before the Autumn. Please come for the weekend or just for either of the days. It will be great to see you all.
Did you know we have a reward scheme? Helping at a Working weekend means you can earn points towards camping for your group.
How does it work?
It’s simple, for every half day you volunteer on a working weekend you earn a point. Each point is equal to 1 person’s overnight camp on the field. So if you come with 3 others or even send a family of 4 for a day to represent your group they can earn you 8 points.
These points can be saved, added together from other working party weekends and used when wanted.
Please contact Colin Floyd if you are coming so we can arrange refreshments and lunch on 07770364711 or email colin@colinfloyd.com
